Penn Street Resident Caught in the Crossfire

by Gil

I noticed a lot of police presence this afternoon when I was coming up Penn Street passing Arrott.  Tonight our tipster Lynda gave us some of the details:

For all the Frankford Folks here who may know Roy Koehler of Penn Street, he caught a stray bullet in the leg at the Arrott St terminal today. Please pray for Roy and his family.  He is a great guy.  I hope he will be ok, the neighbor boys said there was a lot of bleeding.

So far I haven’t seen any news reports of the event.  We’ll give you an update when it is available.

I heard what sounded like gun fire last night (Saturday) around midnight. Couldn’t tell where it was coming from and did not hear anything on the news this morning. Anyone else hear gunfire?

nothing unusual at Penn and Oxford last night.

  3. lyndad Says:

The shooting was at Griscom and Arrott half a block from the Arrott St bus terminal. It was in the late afternoon. I missed the later one Lorraine heard. I fell asleep with that tv on again it drowns out the shooting and siren sounds.

  4. MsHajirah Says:

There were two victims in this shooting at Griscom and Arrott the second victim is deceased.

  5. Lorraine Says:

I haven’t heard anything on the news or in the Inquirer. I guess Philly has so many shootings that only the shootings involving police officers get reported.

  6. Marie Delany Says:

I was so upset about the shooting last Saturday afternoon. There were a least 6 shoots fired and our neighbor Roy Koehler was hit with a bullet. Thank God it was a minor injury. I am so proud of the neighbor’s on Penn Street everyone was concerned about Roy”s condition and were helpful to the police investigating the whole incident.

  7. lyndad Says:

Was the deceased the intended victim? I assumed it was drug dealer related given the location and the recent shootings involving druggies and dealers over the last few weeks. But since there were no news reports I didn’t know any details.

  8. Gil Says:

So far I haven’t found any record of the homicide on that date. The Inquirer likes to list them Monday morning from the weekend and nothing like that turned up. It’s not listed on the PPD crime map either although the shooting is listed there. I am trying to get confirmation from the 15th district on what did happen.

  9. POPPOPS Says:

I HEARD THEY BOTH DIED BECAUSE ROY DIED LATER FROM A BULLET THAT TRAVELED THROUGH HIS LEG AND THE BULLET WAS FOR THE SECOND VICTIM WHICH WAS RELL

  10. gill Says:

15th district says not fatalities were involved.
