Zoning Taken Up at Frankford Civic Meeting

T&T Bar, 4691 Hawthorne Street

It was all about zoning at the Frankford Civic Association meeting on August 2nd.

4327 Penn Street – Angela Raymond operates a family child care center and has an application to increase it to a group day care center which has a maximum of 12 children.T&T Bar, 4691 Hawthorne Street

4691 Hawthorne St. – Cecilia Reyes has applied for zoning for a retail grocery store at the former location of the T&T bar (corner of Hawthorne and Margaret).  Due to the history of this location in the community, the Frankford Civic Association will hold a neighborhood meeting (date and time to be announced) on the issue before a decision is made.

4834 Penn St. – Deacon Lamont Purnell made a presentation on the plans for Innovative Treatment Alternatives Inc. (INA) to open a Veterans Shared Living environment.  His presentation was the same as we previously covered at the Northeast EPIC Stakeholders meeting.  Documentation was provided at the meeting which you can review here.  The next step is or INA to prepare floor plans for the property that will meet the zoning requirements of the 11 family building.

The next meeting of the Frankford Civic Association will be on September 6th at 7PM at Aria Hospital.

  1. “Case Management/Supportive Services: The goal of the unit is to give each veteran the benefit of a stable drug free environment” This is from page 3 of the documentation provided by Deacon Pernell. The proposed property lies in one of Philadelphias busiest open air drug markets; so a stable drug free environment is not an option at 4834 Penn Street.
