Kimberly Washington to the Helm of the Frankford CDC
Kimberly Washington has been chosen as the new Executive Director of the Frankford Community Development Corporation. Kim has served as the leader of the Northeast EPIC Stakeholders group for several years and will be stepping down from that position.
In addition, the Frankford Neighborhood Advisory Committee has moved into the Frankford CDC headquarters at 4900 Griscom Street. The NAC had been resident at the Carson Valley Children’s Aid office on Frankford Avenue. Carson vacated that location and has moved into another of their locations at 2300 West Allegheny Avenue.
St. Joachim and Mater Dolorosa to Close
It was reported in the Northeast Times online Thursday that the two Frankford Roman Catholic parishes of St. Joachim and Mater Dolorosa will be closed. This will leave the Catholic community with no local church for the first time in 168 years. So far, no formal announcement has been made by the Archdiocese.

Love Your Park Plant Sale at Overington Park
On May 18th we held our second annual perennial plant sale in our park as a fund raiser, and we planted our new flower bed around the shed. We had a small turnout but we made more money from our plant sale then last year! All of the plants came from 4 FOOP (Friends of Overington Park) member’s gardens. The rain held off until we were done. The JR ROTC came out to help as well as members of the Frankford Garden Club. Our thanks goes out to all the neighbors who came out to support our efforts in the park by buying a plant or two.
