Ten Days Left to Pre-Register for TreePhilly’s Spring Yard Tree Giveaway

The deadline to register for the Spring 2014 TreePhilly free yard tree giveaway program is Thursday, March 27.  Philadelphia property owners can request free yard trees by visiting www.TreePhilly.org or by calling 215-683-0217.

TreePhilly, a campaign led by Philadelphia Parks & Recreation (PP&R) in partnership with the Fairmount Park Conservancy and with support from Wells Fargo, directly engages Philadelphia property owners, businesses and neighbors to plant and maintain trees. This initiative includes a citywide yard tree giveaway, through which property owners can request a free yard tree to plant on their private property. Wells Fargo is sponsoring the yard tree giveaway; both Wells Fargo and the Fairmount Park Conservancy provide marketing and promotional support for the campaign.

This spring, property-owning residents in Philadelphia are eligible to receive up to two free trees for residential properties and up to ten for community spaces. Last spring, residents across the City received over 2,000 trees! Property-owning residents who apply for free trees through TreePhilly’s spring program can select from a list of tree species, including several fruit trees: American Beech, White Oak, Red Maple, Sassafras, Crabapple,  Hawthorn, Serviceberry, Apricot, Fig, Asian Pear, and Peach. Registrants can pick up their free yard tree at giveaway events across the city on Saturday, April 5th; Sunday, April 6th; Saturday April 12th; or Sunday, April 13th.

Citizens can get involved with TreePhilly by planting and caring for trees on their property, volunteering for a tree planting event in their local park, or sponsoring community service days to plant and maintain trees. For more information and to request a tree, citizens can visit www.TreePhilly.Org  or call 215-683-0217.
