Frankford CDC Call for Artists

The Frankford Community Development Corporation (Frankford CDC), and Destination Frankford, recently announced the Frankford Pause, a pop-up park that will be used as an outdoor performance space for visual artists, musicians, and group performers, will be coming to Frankford Avenue and Paul Street across from the Market Frankford Line’s Margaret Orthodox Station. Performance in Public Spaces (PPS) is an initiative that provides grant money for artists and art organizations to cover all costs associated with presenting performances in select parks and plazas across the city.

Opening Spring 2015, Frankford Pause will serve as a venue for gatherings, provide a social space along the Frankford Avenue corridor, and will include a performance stage, open lawn, and vegetable garden. Its design will utilize vibrant colors and sound activated lighting as an interactive art environment, and create a one-of-a-kind experience unique to Frankford.

Kimberly Washington, Executive Director says, “We are excited to re-energize Frankford through this newly created program. Our goal is to create an environment where every facet of the neighborhood can thrive, including businesses, neighborhood residents, transient shoppers and artist.” FCDC will hold an open call for artists from all genres to apply. Grants range from $500.00 to $3,000.00.

Applications and all required attachments must be submitted online or delivered to the City’s Office of Arts Culture and Creative Economy, located in City Hall, Room 116, by 5:00 pm on December 1, 2014. Applicants must include a letter of support from the Frankford CDC. To view or download the guidelines click here.  For applications and instructions click here.
