Northeast Frankford Boys & Girls Club

 

City Year Team Leads Legacy Project with Students and Staff from Frankford High School and Surrounding Community

                                                           
Philadelphia, PAOn Saturday May 3rd, City Year, in partnership with the Northeast Frankford Boys & Girls Club and the Frankford High School Student Board, will lead a day-long community service project.  The day will take place at the Northeast Frankford Boys & Girls Club, which has been serving the community and its youth for sixty years.  On Saturday, over 85 volunteers will serve the club by cleaning and painting the facility, planting a garden, and creating 3 canvas murals.

The morning will begin with an opening program, which will highlight the importance of service and building communities.  The project will begin at 9:00 and run until 12:30.  Joining us in service will be the club’s Program Director Greg Taylor and the Unit Director Ninette Cooper.  It will be a day of fun, service and excitement. Please join us, everyone is welcome, and we would love to have you attend.

Frankford beautification still on the way

Jon Campisi reports for the Northeast Times:

When former City Councilman Dan Savage detailed a plan to beautify Frankford’s business corridor with welcome signs and aesthetically pleasing trash receptacles, the assumption was that the amenities would be installed in a timely manner.
Well, the announcement was made in December. There’s no denying that the project has inched forward at a snail’s pace.

Twins at PowderMill

The weather has been great for construction these past few weeks and the Twins at PowderMill are moving right along.  Framing on the Cayuga Street side is finished on the first 12 homes. Roofing is complete and windows are in.  Looks like siding is next.  On Wingohocking Street, the second group of 8 is almost completely framed on the exterior.

Fire on Adams Avenue

We didn’t think it was necessary to say anything about the fire on Adams Avenue on Monday.  The local media just eat up that kind of thing,  Before I knew there was a fire, I remember hearing the chatter of 4 news helicopters hovering over my roof through the haze of what should have been a peaceful nights sleep.

A faithful reader supplied us with this link to eastcoast911.com that has some spectacular pictures.  It is a miracle that there was no loss of life.
