Frankford Festival 2009

As opposed to years past, the Frankford Festival of 2009 resembled a bit of the old country fair.  The setting in Overington Park (Leiper St. and Orthodox St.) belied its proximity to the urban scene only a few hundred yards away.  It kind of wisked you back to a simpler time when things were, hmmm,  quieter.

IMG_3623The festival opened at 11 AM with music by “Second Hand Change”.  While the band played, the kids really enjoyed the petting zoo and the moon lamabounce. I took a walk around to see who all was represented.  You can see the pictures from my walk around at our slide show on Flickr by following this link.

At noon, the contestants for the Northeast Philly Idol competition began performing.  There were a total of five young folks, all very talented:  Raquel Alt, 16; Amber Barnes, 14; Sean Bradley, 19; Ciara DeSautel, 17 and Olive Paidge, 20.   The winner of the competition was Ciara DeSautel.

The remainder of the afternoon was filled with music and good times.  Music by The Red Alert Band the Butch Ballard Tribute Trio.
