Easter Celebration for the Frankford Community

EASTER CELEBRATION FOR THE FRANKFORD COMMUNITY

St. Mark’s, Frankford Encourages Community Members to Turn to Spiritual Guidance in this Time of Need

PHILADELPHIA, April 2, 2009 – St. Mark’s Church, Frankford encourages all area residents to take part in Easter services this year. For those that do not currently belong to a church, St. Mark’s welcomes the public to its Holy Communion Easter Service on April 12, 2009 at 10:30 am.
St. Mark’s, which celebrated its 175th anniversary last year, is located at 4442 Frankford Avenue, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania 19124. The church offers a beautiful, spacious, cathedral-like setting, as well as parking. All baptized persons are welcome to receive Holy Communion at St. Mark’s.
Following the Easter Service, St. Mark’s will host an Easter Egg Hunt for children in the Memorial Garden.
“This is a great opportunity, especially in this time of economic trouble, for the Frankford community to come together and celebrate the Easter holiday,” said the Rev. Jon Clodfelter, Rector of St. Mark’s, Frankford. “In this dark time we all need a little light, and what better time to look up for help than during the celebration of the Resurrection of Jesus Christ.”
For this year’s Easter service, St. Mark’s will publish a list of memorials, appreciations, thanksgivings and celebrations. If anyone wishes to share their thoughts, please send them by mail to the church before April 7, 2009. These comments will be included in a leaflet as a perpetual keepsake.
St. Mark’s is joining other churches in the Frankford community and encouraging area residents to use the Easter season as part of the “Looking for answers? Why not look up?” Easter season campaign. Other churches in the area that will welcome new faces include: Campbell AME, Frankford Friends, Frankford Memorial UMC, Frankford Presbyterian, Glading Memorial Presbyterian, Holy Spirit Lutheran Church, Mater Dolorosa, Oxford Circle Baptist Church, Oxford Circle Mennonite Church, Second Baptist Church, & St. James Lutheran Church.
St. Mark’s is an Episcopal/Anglican Church in the historic neighborhood of Frankford. Founded in 1832, it has remained a cornerstone for its ministry, architecture and services. The Rev. Jon Clodfelter has been at St. Mark’s since 2002. The main worship service is on Sunday mornings at 10:30 am; there is a Worship service with Healing Prayers every Wednesday evening at 7:30. St. Mark’s facebook page is open to the public and posts church updates for all those who are interested.
