Councilwoman Sanchez has alienated even her supporters in Frankford and I wonder if this problem doesn’t plague her throughout her district. I think this piece would have been more interesting if the political voices were left out. Instead, talking to everyday folks about whether the quality of their lives has improved since she’s been in office would have been “truer”, a reality check.
I agree with the comment by “Rital Says”, Councilwoman Maria Quinones-Sanchez has also alienated her supporters in Kensington West. A horse stable will be placed in the middle of our neighborhood because she was in total support of it being there despite the communities opposition. She did not even care that this hazard will be located 1/2 block away from an elementary school.
Besides the issue Bubbles mentioned, the City Paper covered a problem between the Councilwoman and a local group in North Philadelphia:

The Al-Aqsa Islamic Academy on 1501 Germantown Ave. was established in 1996, and just 17 years later they are stealing the land of the non-Muslim community hiding behind Eminent Domain in collaboration with City Councilwoman Maria Quiñones-Sánchez who sponsored the legislation, with Mayor Michael Nutter who signed it, and with the Islamists of the Philadelphia Redevelopment Authority.
