Week in Review April 18, 2014

With Spring breaking out and election time coming upon us, its getting busy here in Frankford.

Last Saturday, Keep the Faith in Frankford participated in the Dining with Dignity program at St. Marks.  This is a weekly event where various local churches and groups prepare a meal to eat and a meal to go to the folks who come to St. Marks Episcopal Church.

Also that morning at St. Marks I interviewed Bethel Bates who is the founder of Garden of Eden Productions which is based at St. Marks and produces two plays per year.  The plays are staged at a commercial theater although Bethel says she would love to work in Frankford in the proper venue.

Saturday afternoon we swung by the Frankford Transportation Center to see Dozens of supporters of State Senator Christine Tartaglione rally at the Frankford Transportation Center to re-elect her because of her staunch and continuous leadership in the fight to raise the minimum wage.  Clearly there was a lot of support for that effort.

Tuesday night at the Northwood Civic meeting, councilman at Large David Oh was promoting his initiative to eliminate the Resign to Run requirement which is on the ballot in May.

Wednesday we sent the April Gazette to our sponsor for printing.  It should be out on the streets by April 23rd.

Thursday morning we attended the House Democratic Policy Committee Meeting on Recovery Houses held at Simpson Recreation center.  Representative Clay is sponsoring legislation to regulate recovery and boarding houses.  At present the vast majority are under the radar of the authorities.

Some pictures below of the highlights.
