    Give me some perspective on this, someone. Are we suggesting this brick is an old relic, or just a strange road undercoat?

    i always imagines cobblestones were under there for some reason.

    They are the original paving for streets in a lot of neighborhoods. Before blacktop we had this. When I was a kid there still some streets that looked like this.
