Surfing the facebook group Photos from Northeast Philly in old pictures (1980s and earlier), I came across this pic of the inside of the Ellis Theatre.
From the theatre’s entry in on Cinema Treasures, we learn that it’s facade still exists and is the entrance to the state store across from the Frankford Terminal. Take a look. How things change.
I remember going to the Ellis in the 50’s and early 60’s. Many a Saturday matinee watching B westerns and movies like The Blob and House on Haunted Hill, among others. 25 cents to get in. After it closed it became a Social Security office. That’s where I got my card.
