Overington Park Fall Festival

IMG_3751sm-1

This report is from our friend Diane Kunze:

Thanks so much for hanging in there through our rain delays and coming out to support our Friends of Overington Park group this past Sunday, October 25, 2009. I’m sorry the event didn’t play out as we had hoped due to two rain delays, but those that came made the day worth while. The pumpkin patch for the little kids was a big success thanks to the enthusiasm of the ROTC kids from Frankford High School. They are a great group of young men and women who came out and made the park a better place with their hard work. We gave away 50 pumpkins and 10 bags of candy. They planted, along with the Frankford Garden Club, over 200 flower bulbs and several mums. This spring when the flower bulbs come up and are making the park a more beautiful place for all to enjoy, we will have these groups to thank for the lovely show.

Our next Friends of Overington Park event is on Saturday November 21, 2009, from 10am till 1pm. We will be planting a few trees, and raking up leaves, I hope some of your readers would like to attend. The event is called Fall For Your Park and will be going on around the city in over 60 parks. I hope to see you there. Thanks again, to all, for all the good work in making this little corner of the world a better place.
