The Block Gives Back came to Carmella playground on August 5th for an all day event focused on violence prevention. The report below is from their Facebook page.
The Block Gives Back goal is to revitalize Philadelphia and eventually other cities across the country, that have been neglected by the budget makers and politicians of the nation through our humanitarian and volunteer work. Here in a blue-collar city like Philadelphia, you are raised by the city streets or “blocks” that you come from, its time to give back.
Our Peace and Play Day was an absolute success. Tons of people came out on to support. The weather was amazing and kids had a blast. Throughout the entire day, there wasn’t a dull moment and we really appreciate all of those who participated.
We had the message of being proactive against violence. Make a stand before something happens and make it clear that we won’t tolerate it at our parks. We hope to continue work at Carmella Playground and helping it become a safe place for kids in that neighborhood.
Also, a huge thanks to Jack-Costello Boxing-Club for being a part of not only the day but the entire process of making it a success. We appreciate what you do for the community in helping kids become disciplined, skilled, citizens within our neighborhoods.
