This past weekend 26 people showed up to do a lot of work in our park.
The biggest news is we now have a park sign on the corner of Orthodox and Pilling Streets. Mezalick Design Studio came through in a big way by making the beautiful new sign that went up on Saturday! When they heard we have been seeking a sign, they jumped in and designed and manufactured our new sign. Our thanks goes out to a great local business that helped their community out when we needed it the most!
FOOP (Friends of Overington Park) planted 100 crocus, some daffodils, and a few new plants and shrubs in our flower beds. We dug out our tropical cannas to be stored for the winter in the basements of our members homes. The shed was cleaned up, and the sidewalks along Orthodox and Leiper Streets had 100 bags of leaves and trash picked up. With a small group we worked hard to make our park ready for winter.
Thanks to JR ROTC from Frankford high School, Frankford Garden Club, Joy of Living, our FOOP members, and Dennis, who read about us in the Northeast Times and came down from Mayfair to help clean up our park! Each and every one who came was a gift to the neighborhood, polishing Overington Park into the jewel of the community.
Please join us next month on Friday, December 19th from 7 to 8 pm to sing some songs of the season and get your picture taken with Santa! Thanks to all who support Overington Park, we appreciate you hard work!
