Frankford once again falls short.
You can imagine my surprise when I was reading on Philly.com yesterday to learn that we, as a community, have been beaten out of first place once again. This time it was Olney who took the prize for the highest number of opossum intakes to Animal Control in the city.
Since this goes by zip code and we share 19124 with Juniata, it is likely that Frankford actually accounted for most of those marsupials and we can shift the blame on to the folks in Juniata for not holding up their end.
Still people, we can do better. It seems like a simple thing but the honor of the community is at stake and its time to make sure that you are doing your part.
Do not ignore those ugly little fellows you find in your back alley going through your trash. Its your duty to call ACCT (Animal Care and Control Team) and get on the record. Its for the honor of Frankford that you are called to arms.
I hope to be able to report that we have taken the prize at this time next year. The honor of Frankford depends on it.
If you find an injured or orphaned opossum, call ACCT Philly at 267-385-3800 or the Schuylkill Center Wildlife Clinic at 215-482-8217.
