Frankford resident murdered at his store in Feltonville

From the Daily News today:

With a lot of hard work and a little luck, Anissi Ndeumajado believed he could make a decent life for himself in America.

Friends say he immigrated from West Africa more than 15 years ago and started small, selling T-shirts under a tent in Kensington.

He saved his money, sent some back to his family in Mali and used the rest to bring his wife, Bintousoumar, to Philadelphia. About three years ago, the couple scraped together enough cash to open their own clothing shop, Urban Wear, on Wyoming Avenue near Mascher Street, in Feltonville.

But police say two coldhearted punks wrote a nightmarish ending to Ndeumajado’s version of the American dream when they set foot in his store shortly after 1:30 p.m. yesterday and tried to pull off a robbery.

Instead, the assailants – who are believed to be between the ages of 16 and 20 – opened fire, shooting Ndeumajado dead and critically wounding his wife, who managed to stagger out of the store before collapsing, police said.
