Overington Park Fall Festival

This past Saturday, October 17th, we held our Fall Festival in Overington park. Sponsored by the Frankford Friends Meeting and the Friends of Overington Park (FOOP). Over 100 neighbors came out to enjoy the crisp fall day in our park. We had selfie stations, games, a pumpkin patch, a craft table to make spiders or pumpkins, pretzels, and a treat bag to take home. The little ones searched under the straw to find their pumpkin, with parents looking on snapping pictures. The crafts table was busy all day with children wanting to make both projects, they were having so much fun. The games kept everyone moving, and we all turned out to be winners. Another beautiful day in Overington park!

Our thanks goes out to FOOP members  and the Frankford Friends for their hard work in pulling this event off, Frankford High’s JR ROTC, and the support of our Councilwoman Maria Quinones-Sanchez and Jason Dawkins our State Representative, and the Frankford community for supporting our efforts to make Overington Park a positive place!

Please join us for our last event of the year on November 14th, from 10am to 1pm, Love Your Park Day! We will be putting our beds to sleep for the winter, cleaning up the park, and raking up the leaves to be recycled. We can’t do it without YOU! Hope to see everyone there keeping Overington Park clean and beautiful. See you on Saturday, November 14th!

A Great Night for a Movie Under the Stars

We had a beautiful night in Overington Park, last Friday, August 21st, watching ‘The Iron Giant’.  About 70 folks came out to enjoy some Summer fun watching a film under the stars in Frankford. Turning Points for Children served pop corn, drinks and candy to the  movie goers. State Representative Jason Dawkins supplied the set up and movie for us to watch. Our thanks goes out to all who helped make our movie night a success!

Movie night in Overington Park

We had a good turn out for our rain date movie, The Princess Bride, in the park on July 29th. Turning Points For Children supplied drinks and snacks for all who attended. A huge round moon rose over the screen as the film started. The humidity had finally come down and there was a nice breeze across the park. The crowd, young and old enjoyed the movie and are looking forward to our next big movie night, Friday, August 21st, at sundown (7:45) The Iron Giant!

Please tell your friends to come out and make it a night in Frankford! Bring a blanket or a chair and join your neighbors for a  little summer fun in beautiful Overington Park! Refreshments will be provided again by Turning Points for Children.
