Roland Williams Coming to the Historical Society of Frankford

It was a busy season so far at the Historical Society of Frankford so far this year.  In addition to the regular monthly programs, several special events were held and the second annual flea market fund raiser was a big success in May.  Below is a video clip of the event.  Thanks to Chuck and Jerry, Spectral Evidence, for the music.

 

 

Coming up at the meeting on June 13th, Roland Williams, who was featured in the Jason Sherman documentary “The Kings Highway” will be speaking on the Lenape on the Pennypack.  Meeting starts at 6:30 PM this month for the social hour.

The concept of a mile long parkway from City Hall to the Fairmount Water Works became a reality 100 years ago.

 Harry’s book, “The Benjamin Franklin Parkway”

Tells the story with photos, maps and drawings of this much enjoyed cultural area of the city.

A book signing will follow the presentation.

Historical Society New Season This Tuesday

The 2017 Program Season will begin on March 14, 2017 at 7:30 PM.  This is the annual business meeting at which  members have the opportunity to vote for the retention of three (3) incumbent  and  one (1) newly appointed  Director for a 3 year term and to confirm the appointment of a new Director to  fill the vacancy created by the resignation of an incumbent Director and serve the remainder  of that term which will expire in 2018.
The program portion will consist of a “State of the Society” briefing by the President summarizing the accomplishments which have been made over the past 5+ years and an outline of future
