Community Garden on Paul Street Moves Forward

Update on the Community Garden at Mizpah Seventh-day Adventist Church

We were able to get one bed of cucumbers set up the evening of June 12th and we had a great time in the process!

We plan to set up another bed and do some transplanting again next Tuesday at 6 pm.  All are welcome to come out and help Tuesday, June 19th at 6 PM at the corner of Paul and Unity Streets.

Community Garden Taking Shape in Frankford on Paul Street

Mizpah 7th Day Adventist Church has permission to use the vacant lot next to the church at 4353 Paul Street.

The planning meeting for the Community Garden was attended by 10 residents last week and everyone brought their best ideas for the project.  The good news was that a local neighbor, who knows the owner of the lot next to the church, contacted him and he was happy to give the church use of the property and would be happy to donate the land.  The details of that transaction have yet to be worked out but the project is moving ahead.

On Thursday, local residents and some volunteers from Marymount Manhattan College in  who were on taking Alternate Spring Break in Frankford,  worked on cleaning up the block and building the first of the raised beds for the garden.

If you would like to learn more and participate in the planning, the next meeting will be at 6 PM on April 3rd at Mizpah 7th Day Adventist Church at 4355 Paul Street.
