By Richard Johnson
Joseph W Turner was born March 4, 1948 in the Tacony section of Philadelphia. He received his formal education in the
Philadelphia school system. Jo Jo which he was well-known as, joined the U.S. Army during the Vietnam crisis and received an honorable discharge.
After his military time served, he worked at Acme Manufacturing Company. From there, he worked at Janie Cylinders for 19 years.
Jo Jo was a real ole school type of a guy, a sharp dresser and clean-cut guy especially when it came to his famous Afro type hair style which everyone knew him for. He also was known for street style jokes and long winded Gabby Hayes type stories that he would yeast up. But all in all, it was a great time and he will be missed but remembered.
