The Frankford NAC (Neighborhood Advisory Committee) had a quick meeting on Thursday October 9th to review the case for the owner of 5536 Torresdale Avenue who is applying for a variance for a sign which has been mounted for several years. It did not meet legal height requirements. In addition he is applying for an additional lighted sign.
The NAC does not approve these issues but helps the gather information from the community to assess residents opinions. In the case of the Torresdale Avenue business, no residents who loved in proximity to the business attended the meeting. The applicant presented signed petitions from local residents who were in favor who did not oppose the change. In addition, the NAC distributed flyers in the neighborhood to alert residents of the meeting.
The NAC board, seeing no community opposition to the variance and no other reason to oppose it, will write a letter to the Zoning Board of Adjustment notifying them of those facts.
The next NAC meeting will be on November 13th at 7PM at 2nd Baptist Church at 1801 Meadow Street.
