Frankford Tree Giveaway

Free trees.  It sounds almost too good to be true but it is.

Tree Philly is going to give away 50 trees to Frankford residents on May 5th at the Daral Building.  These are yard trees and not for planting on the curb or in containers.  There is a limited number available and after they are gone that is all till next year.  If you are interested, see the flyer below for contact information.

New Frankford Business: Mozy Clothing Outlet

The Mozy Clothing Outlet at 4441 Frankford Avenue had their grand opening last month and I finally took a walk through on Saturday morning.  The store is big, neat and clean and fully stocked.  Video below of their grand opening day.

Right now this place is the Star of Frankford Avenue.  It’s right across the Street from St. Mark’s Church.

Bidders Wanted for Renovation of Northeast Frankford Boys & Girls Club

Boys & Girls Clubs of Philadelphia is seeking bids for renovations at our Northeast Frankford Club. Please see below bidder requirements and scope of work:

 Bidder Requirements and Certifications:

  • All Bidders must certify that they do not discriminate on the basis of race, gender, creed, color, sexual orientation, gender identity/expression or in any way violate the Pennsylvania Human Relations Act. Copies of anti-discrimination policies must be available for review upon request
  • All Bidders must maintain a written nondiscrimination and sexual harassment policy and shall inform their employees in writing of the policy. The policy must contain a provision that sexual harassment will not be tolerated and employees who practice it will be disciplined. The policy must be available for review upon request and will be posted in the worksite if contract is awarded.
  • All Bidders must  file an EEO-1 report with the US Equal Employment Opportunity Commission
  • All Bidders must certify that neither they nor their suppliers or subcontractors are under suspension or debarment by the Commonwealth of PA
  • All Bidders must possess liability insurance naming the Commonwealth of PA and Boys & Girls Clubs of Philadelphia as additionally insured on their policy
  • All Bidders will comply with the requirements of the Lobbying and Disclosure Act
  • All Bidders certify that they do not knowingly employ undocumented immigrants
  • All Bidders must agree to pay prevailing wage for all jobs associated with this project

 

Scope of Work: 1,700 square feet total to include:

 Large Gathering Area:

  • Remove existing acoustical ceiling tile, grid and wires
  • Remove existing freestanding walls, paneling and associated trims
  • Remove existing doors and frames (2) locations and prep openings for new frame
  • Strip and refinish tin ceiling, paint walls, doors, trims as needed
  • Laminate / patch / repair walls as required to make paint ready where paneling removed
  • Furnish and install new frames, doors and hardware (2) locations also furnish and install new window trim (7) locations
  • Strip and refinish floor
  • Electrical allowance for work as required

Toilet Room:

  • Remove existing acoustical ceiling tile, grid and wires
  • Remove existing paneling and associated trims
  • Strip and refinish tin ceiling, paint walls, doors, trims as needed
  • Laminate / patch / repair walls as required to make paint ready where paneling removed
  • Furnish and install grab bars, toilet paper holder, mirror and window trims
  • Plumb, furnish and install new plumbing fixtures in same location
  • Electrical allowance for work as required
