Veteran of the Month – Charles Randolph
Charles Randolph Jr. was born on October 27th 1958 in the Frankford section of Philadelphia. Charlie, as he was known, went to the following schools: Disston Elementary, Harding Junior High and Frankford High School. Charlie was baptized at an early age at Stat of Hope Baptist Church of Tacony.
He joined the U.S. Army in 1975 and was sent to Fort Dix, NJ for his military training. Charlie received an Honorable Discharge after completing his military obligation, with the rank of E-3 (Private First Class).
Charlie worked at various jobs as a stock coordinator at most stores on the Frankford Avenue corridor in Frankford. He loved his independent way of working.
He also loved fishing, sports and helping the elderly people with their chores or deliveries. Charlie, now at the age of 58 is doing his thing at the neighborhood beer distributor (Frankford Beverage Inc.) helping customers with their packages.
So if you happen to see him, give him a thank you for his military service.
Charles, thank you for your service.
15th District PSA1 Crime Report
This report is for Frankford in the PSA1 area. Frankford, between Bridge Street and Cheltenham Avenue, is in PSA2 and we can’t accurately break out those numbers. There have been at least 2 homicides in that area so far this year.
Taking a different look at the numbers to see if there is a trend.
Comparing the last four years: More people are being shot so far this year. Burglary is going down. Robbery going down. Homicide about the same. Theft is going down. Aggravated Assaults up. Crime with firearms up.
No more arrests for vagrancy and loitering. The theory is that this will free up the police to respond to more serious issues.
The bike patrols, as promised, have been implemented. You will see them primarily between Brill and Arrott Streets and from Penn to Duffield. They do drop in to other locations however, I noticed a group down on Orthodox at Trenton Avenue last week. The schedule varies so the bad guys can’t tell wen they will be swooping down on them.
Come to the next PSA1 meeting on September 22nd at 7 PM at the Bridesburg Boys and Girls Club at 1901 Bridge Street. Find out what is really happening, first hand.
Voters Must Regain Control of Election Outcomes
Former state House Speaker John Perzel ended up going to jail for spending millions in taxpayer dollars on outside consultants who helped him better predict voting patterns to draw up safe Republican districts, including his own. If the Democrats had been in power, they would have done the same. The losers are the voters. Read the rest of the story at the link below.
