Frankford Community Health Fair a HUGE Success

In case you missed it, on Friday, June 1st, Health Partners, Aria Health, and the Frankford CDC teamed up to put on a great Frankford Community Health Fair right in Aria’s parking lot. Representatives from a variety of health and human service organizations came out and spoke with over 100 Frankford residents about how their organizations can assist them! Health Partners performed 85 BMI and blood pressure screenings, and the Philadelphia Hepatitis Outreach Project tested 16 individuals for Hepatitis C.

We also spent the afternoon dancing – Health Partners helped make sure we all got moving! See below for video of some of Frankford’s finest dancing, and for some pictures we snapped throughout the event.

We’re planning to organize another Health Fair next summer, so stay tuned for details – but don’t wait until then to get your regular health screenings from your doctor! And meanwhile, enjoy the photos and videos below! As you can see, we danced our way through the afternoon – and plan to keep dancing all through the summer!

Ask Me How I Know It Takes 15 Minutes To Get Downtown

Because Patrick P. McNally and his son youtubed it for Neast MagHe videoed it.  That’s just above and beyond.  I remember arguing with people about why Frankford is a viable neighborhood for the 21st century, back when I bothered arguing.  And one of the HUGE deals is it’s relative proximity to the center of everything that is great in the world, downtown Philly.  Everyone uses “15 minutes” as a phrase to denote a relatively short length of time.  But it literally takes 15 minutes for these guys to get from the Frankford Transportation Center to goodness down at Spring Garden.
