Show them the money

I am posting this link to a post on my brother’s blog about a crime in Cinnaminson.  One point he makes is that some folks think they are immune to this crime problem because they live in Jersey.  That attitude may put them in at more risk than those of us who live in the city and are cautious wherever we go.   Criminals go where the money is.

Crime camera

I guess you can call this crime deterance.  I’m sure the criminals are well aware of it.  At the corner of Arrott and Griscom Streets on the corner by the parking lot is a video surveillance camera.  You can see the blue light flash periodically.  Hopefully somebody is on the other end watching.

I spoke to a local business man who said that the police have been making a difference with their new policy of engagement.  He has seen it all over the years.

Surveillance cameras under the blue lights

The installation of the vermin cameras continues.  We spotted a new one on the corner of Tackawanna and Harrison tonight.  Flashing it’s beacon to warn the bad folks to ply their trade in the back alleys where they belong.  There is another new one on the corner of Griscom and Arrott. See the map below for all the locations known to date.

Crime map update

We have a few crime bits here:

  • I noticed while updating the crime map page that there was an attempted rape by a stranger on the 4600 block of Large Street on 11/21 at 10:22 PM.
  • From our friends at the West Frankford Town Watch: 15 year-old female reports while riding the Market-Frankford train to school, an unknown black male engaged her in conversation and then exposed himself to her. Offender; b/m, 40’s, dark complexion, 6’ tall, thin build, wearing thick glasses, a brown hat and sweatshirt, black leather jacket and tan work boots.
  • We have updated the crime map page to include the period from 11/10 to 11/23/2008
  • There has been a significant increase in burglary in Frankford.  It may be a normal fluctuation that will return to normal but the most recent report shows a 70% increase.  Might be time to get one of those alarm systems if you don’t already have one.  Keep these vermin our of your home.
