Book Review: Expiration Date by Duane Swierczynski

I didn’t see it coming and I fancy myself as a good reader of plots.  I can spot a plot line in the first minutes of those TV mystery shows and generally I can see where a mystery novel is going well before it gets there.  “Expiration Date” held me to the very end thanks to the skillful narrative and plot woven by Duane Swierczynski.

Is this a book review in the Gazette?  Yes it is but as in all things we do, it is Frankford we are talking about.  Duane has very strong ties to Frankford and his grandfather lived for most of his life on Bridge Street near Ditman so the locale for this mystery is Frankford.

No, I won’t give you the details except to say that he uses some fairly recent events in the plot.  If you are my age you will be taking a  trip down memory lane.  If you are younger, you may see a Frankford you never knew.

I guess its too early for people to apply to be extras for the filming since the Frankford Film office hasn’t had official notice of the shooting but it’s only a matter of time.

it’s available at Amazon and recommended by the Gazette.  Read the reviews.
