NAC Zoning

At the Frankford NAC zoning meeting on January 11th, the people spoke and voted.  Here are the results.

5127 Duffield Street– Veterans housing 44 units- Denied. Applicant came to the community more than four years ago and they did not have a clear plan as what they wanted to do with the property and changed blueprints midspan. Then wanted to make it into section 8 housing.

1360 Brill Street– Applicant wanted a variance to have an open air parking spot next to her residence. Other homeowners have the same type of parking. No opposition; however, applicant will need a curb cut out.

4930 Penn Street– 21 metal containers- 12 people came out to approve; however, a request was made to install privacy fence so people cannot see in and to adhere to business hours only.

4943 Penn Street – For a multi family living unit (4) with an existing structure. – PERMIT FOR A MULTI-FAMILY HOUSEHOLD LIVING (4 UNITS) WIHTIN AN EXISITING DETACHED STRUCTURE.  Case will be heard in February.

4563 Torresdale Avenue – Creation of 3 lot spaces into 1 OPA account. Space 1 and 3 to remain vacant and space 2 to be used as an auto repair shop. – PERMIT FOR CREATION OF THREE (3) TENANT SPACES (SPACES 1, 2 & 3) FROM ONE (1) TENANT SPACE ON 1ST FLOOR. SPACE # 2 – PROPOSED AUTO MECHANIC SHOP (NO SPRAY PAINTING) (PERSONAL VEHICLE REPAIR AND MAINTENANCE), SPACE # 1 AND # 3 TO REMAIN VACANT IN AN EXISTING STRUCTURE (SIZE AND LOCATION AS SHOWN IN THE APPLICATION).  The case will be heard in March.

We will have our zoning meeting on Thursday, January 11th at the CDC Building 4667 Paul Street at 7 pm. You must be a resident to vote.  The following cases are up for review:

Frankford NAC Busy Night

Frankford NAC zoning meeting was busy on December 12th as it heard 5 cases and ruled on one no show.

5127 Duffield Street– Case was dismissed since applicant failed to show.

4562 Hawthorne Street – 1 opposed (Car repair)

4250 Torresdale Avenue – non opposition (Auto locksmith)

2021 Orthodox Street – 10 foot high fence approved by 2 votes

Frankford NAC to Tackle 6 Zoning Cases to End the Year

The Frankford NAC will meet on Thursday, December 13 at 7 pm at 4667 Paul Street.

The following properties up for review:

5127 Duffield Street- continued from last month – Develop lot into Veterans housing

4562 Hawthorne Street– continued from last month – Auto Repair shop

4623 Mulberry Street– legalization of a three family structure

5216 Horrocks Street– daycare

2021 Orthodox Street– legalization of a 20 foot fence

4250 Torresdale Avenue– legalization of a car repair shop

Eligible Voters: Community and Neighborhood Residents/ Residents must have ID in order to vote.

Frankford NAC Zoning November Wrap Up

There were 5 cases on the agenda for the meeting on November 9th.

  • 5127 Duffield Street – Develop lot into Veterans housing – Continued, the applicant did not appear.
  • 4535 Tackawanna Street – Legalization of a five-dwelling unit – Opposed by 2.  Application was disallowed for 5 units because of no egress for basement and no safe access out for the attic.  The zoning board’s recommendation is 3.
  • 4416 Frankford Avenue – To be used as a Hall/ Entertain Events with food service.  Approved – The kitchen is to be used to feed the youth who come in for boxing classes and events.
  • 4938 Penn Street – Rooming house for six individuals – Opposed by 2 votes. Applicant’s lawyer mentioned that applicant will probably withdraw application because of the opposition and then reapply at a later date.
  • 4562 Hawthorne Street – Auto Repair shop – Continued until next meeting.

The next Frankford NAC Zoning meeting will be held on December 14th at 7 PM at the Daral Building, 4667 Paul Street.
