At the Frankford NAC zoning meeting on August 10th, residents came out to vote on 2 zoning applications on the 4100 block of Paul Street.
4143 Paul Street – Variance for a rooming house. Maximum of Thirty people. – SPECIAL EXCEPTION FOR ROOMING HOUSE FOR MAXIMUM THIRTY (30) OCCUPANTS IN ELEVEN (11) ROOMING UNITS (SINGLE ROOM RESIDENCE) IN AN EXISTING STRUCTURE. ALL OCCUPANTS ARE CAPABLE OF SELF PRESERVATION AND SELF SUSTAINING. NO OCCUPANTS UNDER THE JURISDICTION OF ANY COURT SYSTEM. Rooming house was approved by 11 people. Block captain and neighbors actually like them. Will be putting in proviso that we need to review this case in three years.

4101-07 Paul Street – Variance for a night club – PERMIT FOR A NIGHT CLUB/PRIVATE CLUB FOR MORE THAN FIFTY (50) PEOPLE (NO ACTIVITIES AS DEFINED IN 14-603 (13) OF PHILADELPHIA ZONING CODE) ON 1ST AND 2ND FLOOR, FOOD PREPARATION AND ACCESSORY STORAGE IN CELLAR, ACCESSORY OFFICE ON THE 3RD FLOOR WITH ALL OTHER USES AS PREVIOUSLY APPROVED IN AN EXISTING STRUCTURE. Same people flat out opposed it. They wanted it deemed as a nuisance and have it shut down,

Other issues that were addressed:
4930 Penn Street– Variance for the erection of two separate structures (21 storage containers) to house materials and equipment. Opposed by people. They stated that there is no place for ship yard containers other than the ship yard. They also said that anything can be stored in there (drugs, chemicals, etc).
1673 Wakening Street– non opposition to the legalization of the duplex.
The next Frankford NAC zoning meeting will be held on September 14th at 7 PM at Second Baptist Church, 1801 Meadow Street.
