EveryBlock

EveryBlock is a news feed that targets specific cities and areas within cities.  They include us in their data and I have been reading the feed for usdful information of all sorts.  This is a link to the Philadelphia page.  You can then focus on a neighborhood, zip code, police patrol district, council district or a few other ways to filter the data.

The crime reports are always current and easier to lookup than on the PPD site.  Also the restaurant inspection reports are always interesting.  They also provide some information on the doings of City Council.  If you want to see what your Council Rep has been up to, check here.

Take a look.

Streetscape improvements

The first stage of some improvements to the Frankford Avenue environs has been made.  The planters are finally on the avenue and today were filled with flowers by the Frankford Special Services District.  The locations of the planters are in front of 3rd Federal, Friends Lounge (4524 Frankford Avenue), and the Health Center.

The Welcome to FKD Banners are complete and will be installed in the next two weeks. The furniture installer received the new trash receptacles this week as well and is expecting to install them shortly. This was all made possible by the Re- Store grant from the City while Dan Savage was serving as Councilman.

New bookstore in Frankford

I was in Borders up in langhorne Saturday night shopping for books.  The number of bookstores in our area are few.  I was browing the local history section as I always do and came to the Arcadia edition on Frankford by the Historical Society of Frankford.  I already own that book but then it occurred to me that it makes sense to make it available to our readers.

So when I got home I went to Amazon.com and in a few minutes set up the associate account that let’s us offer books for sale by amazon.com though the Frankford Gazette.  We have a few of our favorite titles linked on the book store page under Quick Links on the top left side of the page.

So if you find anything you like order it through our links and we make a commision.  It will go toward our domain name and hosting charges.  Keep your business in the neighborhood.
