Crime in Frankford

From CBS3.com:

Philadelphia Police are investigating an apparent attempted murder suicide that left one man dead and a female injured Thursday.

Officers were called to a home on the 5100 block of Saul Street in the Frankford section of the city after reports of a shooting just after midnight.

At the scene, police found a 33-year-old woman with a gunshot wound to the head and a fatally wounded male.

The woman, who was still conscious, told authorities her husband fired one shot at her head following a dispute. She said she remained still after falling to the ground. Believing she was dead, the man turned the weapon on himself.

Authorities said the female victim was taken to Einstein Medical Center with a graze wound to the head. She is expected to make a full recovery.

The incident remains under investigation.

Crime in Frankford

Fram nbc10.com:

A 21-year-old man is fighting for his life in a hospital after police said he was shot by strangers who wanted his cell phone.

Joshua Hernandez, who will turn 22 years old on Thursday, was hospitalized at Temple Hospital.

“My son’s laying on the ground crying for help, 22 years old and being shot over a cell phone,” said Robyn Hernandez. “What I don’t understand is why.”

Hernandez, who was comforted by friends at her Mayfair home, said her son has a horshoe-shaped wound that goes from his hip to his chest and back down to his other hip.

Witnesses have told Hernandez that her son was shot in the stomach over a cell phone, NBC 10’s Kristen Welker reported. Hernandez said this past Sunday, her son was hanging out with friends in the area of Frankford and Orthodox at around midnight.

Don’t blame the victim for being out at midnight in Frankford.  Don’t blame the schools.  Don’t blame the cops.  Blame the low life scum who pulled the trigger.

Another crime not in Frankford

From Barbara Boyer of the Inquirer:

Police have jailed two men and are looking for a third who they said broke into a woman’s lower Frankford apartment and sexually assaulted her before stealing her money and jewelry, said Capt. John Darby of the Special Victims Unit.

Early on the morning of May 19, Darby said, Hall entered the apartment in the 2100 block of Castor Avenue through a rear window and let the other two men inside.

I sympathize with the victim of this crime but there is no lower Frankford. If it is south of the Frankford Creek, it is somewhere else. Call it lower Mayfair or upper Northern Liberties if you want but leave us out of it.  Read the entire story here.

Another pair of dumb crooks in Frankford

OK, if they were smart they wouldn’t be in the news but who invades the home of a neighbor and expects to get away with it?  Something about that story doesn’t ring true.

The drama unfolded shortly after 4 a.m. on Fillmore Street near Large, police said. Two men wearing masks entered the home through a second-floor window and “rounded the occupants up and were pointing weapons at them,” McGinnis said.

Once cops arrived, he said, the two men fled empty-handed.

One suspect was captured inside an abandoned rowhouse next door, the other was found hiding inside his home two doors away.

Both suspects’ weapons were recovered, McGinnis added.
