Broken Heart

Broken Heart

If love was looking for a place to live, why can’t it move into your heart.
You have the time, the space, and grace to give it a start.
The reason why love can’t move into my heart,
Because love used to live here and it tore my heart apart.

So, if it’s looking for a new place to live let it move into your heart.
You have the time, the space, and grace to give it a brand-new start.
So, the answer to your question, love can’t live here anymore,
Because it tore my heart apart, and I refuse to let love function – in my broken heart.

Tired and Weak

Tired and Weak

When Trouble arrives by the truckload, you may be missing your blessing because you’re not at home.

Can somebody tell me where did I go wrong, my blessing came, and I wasn’t home.

Sometimes when you run the streets you never know who you going to meet.

Someone who’s tired, someone who’s weak, someone who knows what it’s like to be on the streets.

So, do yourself a favor and go back home, and you’ll find that your prayers were answered, and you were never alone.

The man who you ran into, who was tired, and weak. He prayed for you to get off the street.

So, pray for him not because he prayed for you, but you know in your heart it’s the right thing to do, and pray he too can get off the street.

Because he’s tired, and he’s weak, and with your prayers he may get off the street.

Because he’s tired, and he’s weak.

Things to Do

Things to Do

When I woke up this morning, that old sun came shining through.
I looked around, and I said – I have nothing to do.
Now let me think, and get out my list of things to do,
And think about the things I forgot to do.

Because when that sun comes shining through, life gets a whole lot better.
That’s when I think about getting out of the house, and getting a new hairdo,
Polish my fingers, and my toes, and forget about the work I know I have to do.

When I look over that old list there may be a few things I may have missed.
But on a sunny day – like this, I think I’ll go out, and spend some money.
Because on sunny days life gets a little funny,
You need to get out of that house buy a new dress and spend some money.
Because that old list of things to do, will be there tomorrow when you have nothing to do.

Help These Kids Get to the AAU junior Olympics

My good friend, Lenny Jaynes, regularly graces our page with poems but Lenny is more than a poet.  He has spent years working with young people at the Philadelphia Express Track Club.

The club is raising funds to send their team to humble, Texas for the 2021 AAU Junior Olympics.  It would mean the world to these kids to be able to participate.

Every donation is welcome but $100 or more will get you a framed copy of one of Lenny’s most popular poems.

Thanks in advance for your donation to this worthy cause.  Click on this link to download the donation form.

Rest of My Life

Rest of My Life

From the back of the church I heard bell’s ring, and she’ll receive a diamond ring.
These are the words I heard him say, with this ring I thee Wed, and never shall I go astray.
From this day on all my dreams have been fulfilled, just to know that you will become a part of my life.
While walking down the aisle alone just to meet you at the altar.

Just to see you on this wedding day takes all my energy, and breath away.
A man so humble as myself, knowing our names will become entrusted as one.
So, this is one promise I will make to you, with these hands I will provide for you,
And should there be stormy sea I will lay down my life for you.

So, on this day I take you for my wife to have and to hold for the rest of my life.
