Redfin Ranks the Top 10 Cities and Frankford for Walkable Newly Constructed Homes

Not sure how they found Frankford but we are certainly walkable and we do have some new construction at Leiper and Harrison.

Philadelphia ranked first among the top 10 cities leading the way in walkable new home construction, according to Redfin , the next-generation real estate brokerage.

“Philly is on fire when it comes to walkable new construction,” said Redfin agent Tom Lewis. “In nearly every direction you look there are new apartments or condos going up and older buildings are being rehabilitated. A lot of these new homes are in extremely walkable areas that are getting more walkable by the day; places like Northern Liberties ,Fishtown, Frankford, South Philly and Point Breeze are seeing a lot of new construction activity. Buyers who are getting priced out of New York and Washington D.C. are flocking to Philly and developers are rushing to meet the demand. A lot of the new construction buildings are also mixed-use, which in turn is increasing walkability throughout the city.”

Burglars Target Northwood

From Joe Kraus, President of the Northwood Civic Association:

Two houses burglarized last night on the 900 block of Herbert Street. Both homes, the residents were home sleeping; estimated time is between 11:00 PM and 3:00 AM.

These mutts walk our neighborhood and enter our homes as if they belong here. It’s high time we do something about it because the police aren’t doing it for us.

The Northwood Civic meeting is Tuesday, August 16th at 7:00 PM. Show up to discuss your ideas for our neighborhood.

The PSA1 meeting is Thursday August, 25th at which time you can speak directly with the police Lieutenant and maybe even the Captain about what they’re doing to combat these thieves.

Frankford Restaurant Review – Kesha’s Kitchen

Located at 1621 Orthodox Street it stands out on that block because it looks really nice.  My assignment on the day I walked in, was to check out the food.  I had a craving for some fried fish and it was on the menu, so I thought I would give it a try.

Shania took my order and entered it into some kind of high tech system and I had a look around.  There are two little table there but most of the business is take out and they are on the Grub Hub system which makes it easy.  Its the most inviting take out place in Frankford, if you are waiting for your order.

You can watch the cook who on this day was Steve working the grill.

In about 10 minutes, I was ready to go and headed home to enjoy fried Whiting.  The fish and fries were great.  Give them a try.  You can check out the menu on Grub Hub at this link or call 215-288-1700.
