Frankford CDC Now Blogging on United Philly

From Michelle Feldman of the Frankford CDC:

We wanted to let you know that the Frankford CDC is now blogging at unitedphilly.org, too. We are still keeping our main blog, but will also be sharing information about the CDC and our projects at United Philly.  You can find our first blog post here: http://unitedphilly.org/?p=1081. And you can read more about United Philly here: http://unitedphilly.org/?page_id=238 and here: http://unitedphilly.org/?page_id=147.

We first heard of United Philly through our talks with Startup Corps, a year long entrepreneurship program for high school students through which participants start their own businesses and nonprofits. United Philly, as an organization, seeks to act as a bridge among nonprofits in the Philadelphia area, to create mutually productive partnerships and help ensure that organizations working on similar issues learn from each other and help each other grow and succeed. The Frankford CDC believes that through blogging at United Philly, we will be able to further positively promote Frankford as a neighborhood and community.

Happy Mothers Day

We had a few events here in the run up to Mother’s day.  On Wednesday, there was a Jewelry and Craft show sponsored by the Frankford CDC at the Simply Flawless Salon at 4616 Frankford Avenue.  On hand were Candi Ritzman of the Pampered Chef, Melissa Matos of Red Stag Jewelry and Noel Wallert of Thirty-One gifts.  If you missed the show, feel free to contact them through their pages which are linked on their names above.

Saturday the Frankford Garden Club held their annual Mother’s Day plant sale in front of our Free Library Branch on Frankford Avenue.  Business was booming and its no wonder because the value of the plants compared to the prices was outstanding.  This group of folks is rebuilding Frankford, one plant at a time.

Have a look below at some pictures. Click on a picture for a full size view. Happy Mothers Day.
