On Monday, January 15, 9:00 am to 11. Understanding how busy your schedule is, we hope that you may be able to fit us into your MLK Day. The doors open at 8:30 a.m. for this unique and popular event which offers Frankford Residents, Neighborhood-based Organizations, Religious Congregations, Small Business Owners, Community Activists and anyone seeking information about improving relations among diverse racial and ethnic groups, an opportunity to meet and greet their neighbors.

With the “LOVE THY NEIGHBOR” theme, this celebration will be two hours long and includes a free breakfast, Frankford High School ROTC, Frankford Garden Club, Sankofa Freedom Academy Charter School and Frankford Friends School, Ujima Friends Peace Center, One Day at A Time, State Representative Jason Dawkins and more. This year, the breakfast will be held at the Frankford Friends School Annex at the corner of Orthodox and Penn Streets in Frankford, Philadelphia.

The Frankford Coalition of Neighbors is a civic organization working to improve relations among the diverse economic, racial and ethnic groups in Frankford, while promoting volunteerism and community coalition. T h e M L K C e l e b r a ti o n is an expression of the Coalition’s mission, which hopes to generate positive social change in order to create a more just, responsive, peaceful and cooperative community for all Frankford residents.

The committee plans to serve approximately 180 people for the breakfast and we offer an exhibit table for any materials you wish to distribute, or place your materials to each person at their seat. This Breakfast is our opportunity for the community to come together, celebrate and reaffirm our commitmentto Dr.King’s vision of racial justice and peacemaking.This year,we are collecting cans for Frankford Food Banks and conducting a service project to assemble bags and hygiene items for Homeless individuals in Frankford and city-wide.

    Description – The 15th Police District is holding meetings next week with residents, businesses and community stakeholders to discuss issues in each of its three Police Service Areas. The PSA is a subdivision of the district, to which the same officers and supervisors are assigned on an ongoing basis. The goal of monthly meetings is to build a partnership between police and the community. PSA-1 covers the area from Bridge Street to the Frankford Creek and from Roosevelt Boulevard to the Delaware River. The community meeting will be held at 6:30 p.m. Monday, Jan. 18, in the Aria Hospital second-floor conference room, 4901Frankford Ave.
