Salvation Army to Return to Frankford
Welcome Home
After a number of idle years, The Salvation Army is to reopen it’s Frankford Center at 4342 Frankford Avenue.
I spoke with Major Frederick Clarke, Corps Officer, and he stated that after some repair work to update the Center and installation of a handicap accessible elevator, the center is looking to reopen at the start of 2020.
Major Clarke also stated that he desires to work closely with the Community and plans are to provide counseling services to the area. The plan is to relocate the 1920 E. Allegheny Ave. Corps Center to Frankford and close that one due to high repair costs of the building.
Thanks for the tip from Rev. Patrick Hodynski, F.O.R.C.E. Philadelphia
Tree Planting Time in Frankford
Registration is now open for our TreePhilly giveaway, which will take place on November 4th from 1-3pm at Frankford Pause Park, 4673 Paul St. In case of rain, the giveaway will take place next door at the Daral Building, 4667 Paul St.
Trees must be planted within the city of Philadelphia on private property, not in containers or in the sidewalk. To receive a tree, folks will need to register by contacting me, Ellie Vamos, at 215-743-6580 x105 or at evamos.fcdc@gmail.com.
Our giveaway will also include free recycling bins from the Streets Department and other local health and sustainability resources! We look forward to hosting another great event with our partners at TreePhilly and the Frankford Garden Club.
