There Are Thousands of Points of Light in Frankford

We took a tour of Frankford on the evening of December 22nd to see the lights.

There is no need to go to the suburbs to see beautiful Christmas lights. Head over to the Wawa and get your hot chocolate and then drive Frankford for an hour.  Go to the streets you don’t usually use.  That turned out to be where the real treasures were.

It’s not crowded and the people are friendly if you stop and look.  People work hard decorating their houses and its nice that other folks appreciate it .

Thanks to all those who said hello and asked what we were up to when we were taking pictures.  Thanks to Lynda and Mari who sent in pictures last night.  If anybody else would like to add pictures of the outside of your house, email gil@frankfordgazette.com or text to 2158475506.  We’ll do the last update before new years and you can watch the slide show on New Years day.

Merry Christmas

STOP AND THINK

If everyday was Christmas, you would be the first to walk in the new fallen snow.

If everyday was Christmas, strangers would stop and say hello.

If everyday was Christmas, there would be no more wars.

So stop and think about Christmas, the day that Christ was born.

Now stop and think about the fallen snow, say hello and no more wars.

Citizens of Frankford, We Can Do Better

Frankford once again falls short.

You can imagine my surprise when I was reading on Philly.com yesterday to learn that we, as a community, have been beaten out of first place once again. This time it was Olney who took the prize for the highest number of opossum intakes to Animal Control in the city.

Since this goes by zip code and we share 19124 with Juniata, it is likely that Frankford actually accounted for most of those marsupials and we can shift the blame on to the folks in Juniata for not holding up their end.

Still people, we can do better.  It seems like a simple thing but the honor of the community is at stake and its time to make sure that you are doing your part.

Do not ignore those ugly little fellows you find in your back alley going through your trash.  Its your duty to call ACCT (Animal Care and Control Team) and get on the record.  Its for the honor of Frankford that you are called to arms.

I hope to be able to report that we have taken the prize at this time next year.  The honor of Frankford depends on it.

If you find an injured or orphaned opossum, call ACCT Philly at 267-385-3800 or the Schuylkill Center Wildlife Clinic at 215-482-8217.

The Real Fountain of Youth

As we age, some of us remember growing up and thinking about how we viewed people in their 50’s or older; we used to think that 50 was old. But with so many advancements in science, research, and in the medical field, we are living much longer, and we are looking more youthful than ever, at older ages.

Research and science has given us so much information about what we can do to stay healthy as we age, that I am looking forward to reaching my age goal of 100 years old, and doing it as a physically and mentally healthy human being. Through my own research, I know that I can. And I have written a blog to share my research and findings with everyone who wishes to join me on my happy and healthy journey to 100 plus years old.  Follow the links below to find out more.

I’m already having the time of my life at 55, and can’t wait to enjoy each and everyday until my 56th birthday and beyond. Please come join my journey through my informational blogs. Hope to see your own comments and suggestions posted on each of them.
