July PSA1 Crime Report

Crimes reported dropped in July compared to the same period in 2015.  It may be partly explained by the shortage of police during the Democratic Convention as well as the necessity of implementing a 2 man to a car policy for a period of time.

We still stand at 8 homicides so far this year in Frankford.  Six of those in PSA1 and 2 in PSA2 which in Frankford is between Bridge Street and Cheltenham Avenue.

When we have a look at the August numbers, it will give a better view on whether that drop was due to less crime or fewer officers available to take make a report.

Communication Is Key

Good things are happening in many neighborhoods, but it is the media that exposes and accentuates the bad (because it sells)!

Let us not forget those good officers (example) Officer Cintom Negron (badge # 7049 of the 15th district) who reaches out to neighbors and children on Penn Street in Frankford.

Bar Restaurant of the Week on the Tour

Brian’s Sports bar at 5007 Frankford Avenue was the subject of discussion at the Frankford Civic a few years ago but has been below the radar since that time.

The legal name is ONJY Inc. and they have only one citation on the LCB website.  They operate with a restaurant licence (R4498) and therefore are required to be primarily in the food business with seating for 30 at tables and chairs.

We haven’t sent anybody in for a test of the food service yet.
