Northeast Times

crime graphicThe Northeast Times editorial last week came to the defense of the New Frankford Community Y while insulting the Frankford Community.

Say what you want about Frankford – it’s no longer the quaint neighborhood of historic homes, it’s too dangerous to visit day or night, it’s the murder capital of Northeast Philadelphia, etc. – but one thing it had (until last week) that most Northeast neighborhoods don’t have was its very own community center.

Thanks for the help Times but with friends like you, who needs enemies.  Now maybe you should do some research before you write. The crime rate is going down in Frankford.  You would know that if you read the crime reports you publish every other week.

The Times has a history of printing just about any stupid editorial to incite irate letter writers to give them some cheap content. Saves the cost of paying the reporters to fill the newspaper. So I am not going to honor their ignorance with a letter to their editor.

Crime Page Update

crime graphicI’ve updated the crime map page to include the period from May 25 through June 6th.  The results over the last few weeks have shown that the police are doing a great job at keeping the slime balls in check.  It is a tribute to their hard work and dedication under difficult circumstances.  The next time you see a cop in Frankford, say thank you.  It is unfortunate that some other neighborhoods may not be getting the coverage that had previously enjoyed but you put the resource where the problems are.

Some folks think that Frankford should have no police protection because it is too far gone.  That attitude is what created this mess in the first place.  We live here, WE PAY TAXES, we deserve the service.  We will dig ourselves out of this hole.  Then the police will be free to move on the next hot spot.

Fox News Geographically Challenged

Fox News must be geographically challenged or just too lazy to check where the 6400 block of Frankford Avenue (map) lies.

The FBI is hunting for a bank robber who attacked a customer in Philadelphia’s Frankford section.  Police say the man jumped the counter at the Wachovia Bank Branch on the 6400 block of Frankford Avenue around 10:25 a.m. Friday.

It does not lie in Frankford but in Mayfair.  Why do they call it myfoxphilly of they don’t know the neighborhoods.  Of course they could always do a correction but they never have in the past.

Murder in Frankford

crime graphicMurder last night on the 1100 block of Overington Street.  Read the story from KYW and 6ABC here.  Not clear what the story is but I believe this is the 3rd murder of the year in Frankford.

I am tempted to say the number is better than last year at this time but that would be saying that 3 murders is a good thing.  That makes no sense.  And in front of children too.  What vermin walk the streets.
