Yesterday’s Frankford Civic Meeting

NEast Philly has a summary about the discussions going on about recovery houses.  Also among new business discussed was the opening of Chinese Restaurant on the northeast corner of Torresdale and Bridge and a new market on the corner of Frankford and Church.  The market seemed to be met with some approval.

Jason Dawkins from Counselwoman Sanchez’s office made a presentation about a new recycling program that’s being started.  The information is contained in this recycling flyer.  The recycling signup sheet is here.

He also discussed the recently extended ex offender program and the recently rehabilitated cleaning up on Frankford Ave.

New Oxford Pizza

I have a special place in my heart for any pizza shop that sets up at 4728 Oxford Ave.  I used to get the most delicious slices there during my walk home from high school from 92 to 96.  They were greek or something, I never really knew.  At one time I think a woman from the Frankford Group Ministry bought it then shut it down.  And I have no idea how many iterations that location has gone through but it’s open again.  They put a menu in my door so I thought I’d post it.  Check it out below and let me know if anyone tries it.

Temple Journalism Student Profiles Frankford’s Main Street

Temple student Morgan Zalot stopped by to highlight Frankford Mainstreet’s Storefront Improvement Program.  She also put some video up on youtube:

Then she threw some suplimental stuff up on NEast Philly.  I’m impressed.  Thorough work.  She made it into Mark My Flesh, a tattoo parlor at Frankford and Orthodox.  She also talked with the owners of Gilbert’s Upholstery.  We’ve been quite heartily scooped.  I am really getting a grasp of how serious Temple takes its journalism.
